“The Auditorium of St. Paul is the first and only building in the world which has been equipped with the peculiar devices which provide for its almost instantaneous transformation from a theatre to a great public hall, a city block in length.

“As a theatre, utilizing one-third of the space, the building seats 3,200 people; as a public auditorium it seats 10,000 people.”

“The jewel in Hartford’s theatrical crown was Parsons [sic] Theater located at the  junction of Prospect Street and American (Central) Row. For more than three decades beginning in the 1890s, it not only presented touring shows, but like the Shubert, New York-bound shows, too.”

“The Rockland Theatre was located at 12 Park Street. It became the Park Theatre in 1921 and the Knox Theatre in 1952. The building was torn down in 1962.”
